I’ll never forget the first time I laid eyes on Phyllis Neill, my business partner. It was August 5, 2009 at 7:59am at Starbucks in Vestavia. She was sitting patiently at the table near the front window working on her Blackberry.
She sent me a message through Twitter saying she was following me. Since we were both interested in social media, I followed her back. Then I went to LinkedIn to learn more. I saw she was a high level marketing person who held top positions in major research and technology firms and lived in Birmingham. So I asked her into my LinkedIn network. She accepted and invited me for coffee.
I never dreamed while driving to meet Phyllis that my life and the lives of our soon to be clients would ever be the same.
It was social media love at first sight. After a few short meetings, we decided to start a social media outsourcing business that would not only develop creative social media strategies, but provide interesting and engaging content to insure return on investment.
Phyllis is goal oriented, focused, and stunningly bright. And what a resume! She’s served in leadership positions for a multiplicity of business sectors, including computer software, healthcare IT, marketing, & advertising.
She understands the old rules of interruption marketing don’t work and you have to provide creative content to get your clients and prospects to follow you.
Phyllis is a woman on fire. She wakes up every day with a single minded burning desire to help our clients make money with social media. She is creative, fun, and has a big heart. She calls it “providence” we found each other. I call it the “power of social media.” We never would have met without Twitter & LinkedIn. It’s this same power we use every day to benefit our clients.
