Did that headline make you think of something you fail at?
I hope you were thinking “oh gosh, PLEASE tell me that you fail in the same way that I do so I feel less bad about my abilities!”
I have to admit, I look forward to feeling better about myself when I read how others fail. I do like to also know how they plan to grow from their failings.
Chris Brogan, one of my favorite thought leaders in the content marketing space, recently challenged his readers to “Write an invitation to your readers to share their upcoming challenges and concerns. To get the ball rolling, share some of your own challenges for the coming year.”
Uggh. That means now I have to be “transparent” with you. (i.e., I have to share something gross or embarrassing that is true but that I wish you didn’t know about me because I’m supposed to have my act totally together).
Ok – my big challenge in 2012 is to do a better job at discovering exactly which metrics help my clients see the value in content marketing. We measure about 20 different metrics currently, but we have struggled with finding the right combination that really tells the story of success (which we know anecdotally there is PLENTY of success and value).
Ok. I showed you mine. Now show me yours. Doesn’t have to be long, or detailed. Just share with me one upcoming challenge and/or one upcoming concern you have with your job, your business, your industry – whatever. Let’s help each other feel less like a giant loser by showing that we ALL fail.
My challenge for 2012 is getting a better grasp on digital metrics/audience measurement as it releates to the spot market and local advertising. I always have good intentions and then the next thing i know its a new year.
George, it’s funny how many of us, regardless of our industry, have the challenge of getting a better grasp on METRICS. Definitely a common theme. Thanks so much for making the time to comment.
